SplitP basketball shoe was created as part of my 2nd semester project at University of applied Arts Linz. The task was to choose a specific sport and create an appropriate and innovative sports shoe for it.
The vision was to create a basketball shoe with optimized sole characteristics for professional players. The midsole should take the respective player position into account.
The SplitP basketball shoe is adaptable to the player thanks to its 3-part construction and in particular the customizable midsole. The cushioning, spring and energy return can be optimized to the player and his playing style through the 3D printable pattern sole. It is manufactured from parametrically customizable patterns using TPU 3D printing.

Outersole
The outer sole is made of a semi-transparent milky rubber and offers perfect grip on the ground thanks to a wavy pattern on the underside and provides a peek into the shoe's technology through its transparency.
Midsole
With the help of the Ntop software and a Prusa MK3s+, I was able to test various patterns for their properties and finally decided on the SplitP pattern, which also gave the shoe its name.
